It's Friiiiiiday!

Today, I will be judging the Homecoming displays at my sissy's high school, Hooper Academy. She is the Student Government sponsor and asked me to judge.

I'm happy to do so because I so enjoy displays. They're so crafty! Thankfully, my mom will be with me so I will have her to lean on when I get dizzy (which I have alot here lately).

I'm sure it will be fun and I'm so looking forward to it. My sissy has worked her hiney off and I'm sure she'll sleep well when it's all over! God bless her sweet heart.

I'll post a little later today about the experience.

BTW, Mr. Moose's birthday is Sunday. I was born in October, he was born in November and our son will be born in December (we hope!). Kewlie, huh?

I hope everyone has a "spooky" Halloween!

Boo!

Update Time...FINALLY?

I've been away for a bit and I apologize.

I had another migraine Tuesday and usually the day of and day after I'm "hung over". Sorry I haven't posted in a bit. Mr. Moose was off Monday, so I had no computer time that day either. BUMMER!

Well, Baby Mooses's 4-D sonogram was a tremendous success. I couldn't have asked for a better session. We received 15 pics, a DVD and a CD with all the pics embedded on it. I cried like a baby. Mr. Moose was his usual Stoic self, but I think he was moved, too.

I know my Daddy was excited! He and my mom are so jazzed to meet their first grandson. It's such a beautiful thing. I am so glad we live nearby so Baby Moose can be a part of their lives and they a part of his, as well.

Monday, my parents and sissy/her hubby celebrated my b-day with me. The cards were great, the gifts were awesome, but having my loved ones around was the best gift of all. (Oh, and the Great American Cookie, too!) My sissy and her hubby got me a baby boy scrapbook and two parenting magazines. My parent's got me a glide rocker with an ottoman (like the one in the pic below:I loved ALL my loot!

Friday, Mr. Moose celebrated my birthday with me by getting me lilies (my favorite flower!), a peda-egg (which I desperately needed) and a Sarah McLaughlin CD (my favorite artist). The card he gave me was wonderful, too! He's such a great hubby/daddy. I can't wait for Baby Moose to get to know him!

My friend, Monica, came over Tuesday morning and gave me a card and a Halloween pin she'd made for me. It's a skeleton. I LOVE IT! I can't wait to wear it tomorrow and be all spooky for Halloween! She's so talented. I do love her so. Mr. Moose and I are having veggie chili at Casa da Ronish next weekend. I'm soooooooooooo looking forward to it.

Let's see, anything else?

OH! My sissy said my baby shower will be November 15th. I am registered at Wal-Mart and Burlington Baby Depot. I really should go register for some shoes for our son. He has 1 pair of shoes and tons of socks. Oh, bother!

Well, I guess that's the wonderful update. Hope you weren't too disappointed!

See ya later, alligators!

Migraine....again!

I had a migraine yesterday at about 12:30. I'll post a little more this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm a little "hangover" still.
Sorry!

Happy, Happy Joy, Joy!

I am sooooo stoked!

Baby Moose actually cooperated today and we got his 4-D ultrasound. When the technician pressed on my belly and we saw his face for the first time, I wept like crazy.

He looks like his Daddy to me. Handsome as can be. Such a sweet, wonderful blessing he is, ALREADY!

Mr. Moose and my father were present during the ultrasound. (And Baby Moose & I, of course!) The feeling I had knowing the most important men in my life were in there with me (My husband, father AND son) is a feeling like no other. Needless to say, I felt out-numbered! :D

My obstetrician said everything is going splendidly. My weight and vitals are perfect. The glucose test was negative. My urine was okay as was my belly size. "Everything is going perfect." (<--his own words.) This is such a wonderful thing to hear. We couldn't be happier.

If you can afford a 4-D ultrasound and it is offered to you, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's an experience like no other, I guarantee it!

After Mr. Moose scans Baby Moose's pictures in, I promise to post a few. It's so amazing and surreal to know that little person is inside my belly.

Well, I need to go. My parents and sissy/her hubby are coming over to give me my birthday gifts in a little while. I, of course, need to straighten up a bit before they arrive.

Ciao for now!

Keep your fingers crossed!

I need to go hop in the shower.

Today, we're going to try again for Baby Moose's 4-D ultrasound.

Here's hoping he'll cooperate!

I'll update everyone later today......

Happy Monday (if there is such a thing!)

TGIF!

Well, I'm "whooped"!
I've had two migraines in as many days. They always make me feel "hung over". I feel as if I could sleep for most of the day and still be tired. Migraines suck. It's a combination of my hormones and the weather change, I'm sure of it. At least the medication I take for them doesn't have any ill effects on Baby Moose. That's the only good thing....

Wednesday, my friend Monica and I shopped for some maternity clothes (I needed them since it's cold now).

I purchased a fleece jacket, 2 pairs of maternity jeans, a pair of maternity leggings and two shirts (I plan on wearing turtle necks under them.) I tried before to find some maternity stuff in the various thrift and consignment shops here in town. All to no avail. Oh, well. I had to have something other than shorts, now that it's cooler weather. I feel bad about spending so much, but clothing is a necessity, right?

I got a migraine when my friend and I sat down at lunch. I ate my entire lunch sightless. Monica drove me home around 1:00 and I slept on the couch until about 5:00 or so. Mr. Moose picked up some dinner and I ate a little a promptly when upstairs and went back to sleep.

I got up yesterday morning, saw Mr. Moose off, had some cereal and got ANOTHER migraine at about 7:45 or so. I slept on the couch again until about 11:45. It wasn't as bad as the first one, but it still sucked!

It got me thinking last night. It's going to be awful when (not if) I get one with our son. He's not going to understand that Mommy's head will be in a vice grip and that noise and such are not something that helps. Man, I dread it when it does happen.

Well, today's my 30th birthday. It's rainy, windy and cold outside. It looks just like a 30th birthday does, I guess. The thing is, I don't really care. As I've gotten older and have become pregnant, things like MY birthday really doesn't matter anymore. I can't even really tell anyone anything I'd want for a gift. Oh, well...

The thing is, now I understand how my mother feels/felt about so many things. It's ironic how much I understand now that we have one on the way. You know, she (and my Daddy) always told me I wouldn't understand completely until I "had one of my own". They were/are absolutely right!

My mom called me this morning and sang "Happy Birthday" to me, as did my Daddy. (They're soooooo sweet!) My Daddy also sent me a beautiful e-card and my friend LYNDA (who is doing great with her new daughter) sent me a happy b-day email.

Well, I'm fixing to go shower because my Daddy is taking me out for lunch and I want time enough for my hair to dry. (Baby Moose hates the loud sound of my blow dryer.)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

"Hump" Day Post

I'm visiting with my friend Monica today.

She told me how she and her hubby have saved tons o' cash clipping coupons, so I wanted her to fill me in on their "penny-pinching" secrets! (We have to save all the cash we can now for our son, you know.)

I was not able to find any jeans yesterday, so I guess I'll shop around some a little later today and tomorrow. Sweat pants are going to have to do until then. I DID pick up some khaki pants for Mr. Moose and a few little things for the baby. (Now I understand why my mother did the same for us when we were growing up. Moms ROCK!)

Oh, by the way, Friday is my birthday. Big flippin' deal. Mr. Moose said we could actually have dinner out at a restaurant. No cooking for me! (That's the best gift of all!)

Anywho, I'll see everyone tomorrow, if not before.

Happy Hump Day!

A Clothing Safari?

I need to go and purchase some Maternity blue jeans. I have one pair and since it's "jean weather" now, I'm going to need a couple pairs more.

I also want to get a pair of overalls and maybe a dress. Who knows? They are going to be harder to find, I think.

I'm going to hit a couple of consignment stores before I hit the Motherhood Maternity store. I see no need in paying a fortune on clothing I'll only be able to wear for 8 or 10 weeks.

Wish me luck!

Weekend Update Moose-Style

Well, here I am again. Ready for some weekend info? I thought so. :D
Friday it was rainy and kinda blah. I felt down, so my momma and I went to a flea market so she could find a "bumper pad" for Baby Moose's crib at their home. Spoiled rotten kid, not even born yet and already spoiled rotten! (<--just like his mommy!)
Friday was also the one-week birthday of my friend Lynda's daughter. She emailed me and let me know they are all doing well. I'm so happy for them. YAY! She is a beautiful little lady, just like her mommy!
I also received two hand-made "blankies" from Mr. Moose's aunt in Arizona. They're sooooo adorable. I put them on the bassinet downstairs. I'll post a pic of them in my pic post following this one. They're so nice, I don't wanna use them in fear they'll be ruined. Oh, well......
Saturday, Mr. Moose put our son's crib together while I went through some boxes we'd removed from storage. The crib is PERFECT! I am so proud of my hubby. My parent's bought the crib back in May for our anniversary. I was thrilled to see it all put together. The nursery is really coming together now! YIPPIE!!!!!
My parents came to our house Saturday to assist my hub with the assemblage of the crib, but he ended up not needing any help. It was nice "showing it off", though! The natural honey finish is perfect. I am highly impressed.
My mother and I put on Baby Moose's crib linens. They are Winnie the Pooh (r), of course! He even has a Pooh valance, but I didn't have the hardware to hang it. I'll get it hung soon enough. I am sooooo jazzed! I will post some pics of the Pooh Nursery in my pic post.
My sister and her husband came by for a visit with us and our parents. We had lunch at McDonald's because Mr. Moose is convinced he'll win $100,000 at Monopoly. Man, don't they have the absolute best french fries?
My parents went home after lunch. My sissy and her hubby stayed with us and watched the Alabama football game on our digital television. We had bbq chicken, green salad, baked beans and yeast rolls for dinner. We also had Moose Tracks(r) Ice Cream for dessert. It was fun! I'm soooo glad they had a long visit with us. We don't see them near enough. We don't see ANYONE near enough, or so I think.
Sunday I spent the afternoon washing infant clothing and "being lazy". Mr. Moose did lotsa work and rested in the afternoon, as well. (My Indianapolis Colts lost, which I thought was a real bummer.) Sunday was like what they're always like, lazy and uneventful.
That's the big update. Are you impressed? I know I am! I still can hardly believe we're going to be parents. Isn't life wonderful?
Well, I need to go. I'll post some pics of various things in a sec. Surprise, surprise I gotta go potty.......
Hope everyone's Monday has been bearable!

A "Quickie"

Morning All!

I have some errands to run, but will be back in a bit with this weekend's update. (JOY!)

Let's just say Baby Moose's nursery is almost done (I'll post some pics), Alabama won it's game Saturday and I did a ton of "baby" laundry yesterday.....

See ya'll later, alligators!

p.s. I feel so awesome today. What's THAT all about?

Happy News ...for a change

Lotsa happy news to share!

#1 I got back my glucose results yesterday at about 4:45. They looked fine! I'm so thankful to God for making everything turn out okay. He is so amazing!

#2 As I'm sure you all read, Lynda gave birth to Lily 1 week ago today. They're both doing fine and are happily at home now. YAY!

#3 Baby Moose's nursery is coming together now. "It's beginning to look a lot like baby...all through our house...." :D

Good News=Happy Mrs. Moose

Well, just a quick update on this Friday. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Mrs. Moose...MIA?

I apologize for not posting since last week. My girlfriend, Monica, expressed concern yesterday about my health and/or happiness. I just been really stressed out and upset about my glucose test. I am sorry I haven't been updating you all about it.
As you know, last week I had a 1-hour test and was found to be on the borderline. Tuesday, I had a 3-hour test to verify if my glucose was to high, thus gestational diabetes.
I have yet to receive the results, but it is only Thursday. I'm so nervous to find out if I'm okay.
Let's see...
Saturday, we were unable to get into our storage unit, which we have since vacated, so we were unable to assemble our son's crib. Mr. Moose was livid. Needless to say, after calling the police and complaining, his anxieties were not abated.
We attended the County Fair Saturday morning, but only looked at exhibits and saw the circus. We rarely ride rides and DEFINITELY couldn't this year, 'cos I'm "in the family way". A funnel cake, lemonade and an orange slush were the food we enjoyed. We also looked at the classic cars and one of Mr. Moose's college professors entered her 1962 Chevrolet Corvette. It was gorgeous!
Monday, we were actually able to access our storage shed and emptied it out. (we finished up Tuesday night) Thankfully, all of our "stuff" we were able to remove. The thing is, it's all in our carport and I have to go through it and get rid of most of it.....I am NOT looking forward to that! (I've been told to do some major downsizing.)
Sunday we napped, watched Pro football and I washed some of our son's linens. It was a lazy Sunday, the way most are.
Monday we had a dental appointment, Mr. Moose's sleep doctor's appointment and another appointment in the afternoon (which he canceled). I went through some baby things of our son's Monday afternoon while Mr. Moose napped.
Monday night was a killer. I was told "NO FOOD" after midnight. I ate a huge dinner and even had a snack before retiring. I woke up with a headache and never went back to sleep because I couldn't take any medication for it. I only got about 2 hours of sleep. Needless to say, I felt awful Tuesday at my 3-hour test.
I had to give vile upon vile of blood. Once an hour for 3 hours. And one for a baseline and another because my blood missed the vile totally. (Irritation much!) My mother was with me and chose to fast also. (which she didn't have to do, but she did, bless her sweet heart)
After being poked and prodded for 4 hours, we ate some lunch. (YES!) Miraculously my head felt better after that. I so hope I'll never have to do that again, but if it's for my son, I will go through ANYTHING!
Wednesday (yesterday) I layed around the house and rested. My arms are still sore from the needle sticks. I hope I have FINALLY gotten caught up on my rest.
Today, Mr. Moose and I are having lunch (Which I'm looking forward to).
Like I said, my friend Monica called me yesterday and she told me their t.v. was on the fritz. It's been repaired, so YAY! I wouldn't know WHAT to do without my "boob tube". She and her hubby, Brian, are officially Baby Moose's aunt and uncle. We can hardly wait for Baby Moose to meet them. We love 'em, so I know he will too!
Well, I hope that's brought everyone up to speed on the drama that is my life. Exciting? Not really. Irritating? Sometimes. Never ordinary? DEFINITELY!
Hope everyone has a good day. See you all tomorrow... (hopefully!)

Wonderful News!

Congrats!

Do I have Gestational Diabetes?

What is gestational diabetes?

This is a type of diabetes that some women develop during pregnancy. Between 2 and 7 percent of expectant mothers develop this condition, making it one of the most common health problems of pregnancy.
When you eat, your digestive system breaks most of your food down into a type of sugar called glucose. The glucose enters your bloodstream and then — with the help of insulin, a hormone made by your pancreas — provides fuel for the cells of your body. Like the type 1 and type 2 diabetes you can get when you're not pregnant, gestational diabetes causes the glucose to stay in your blood instead of moving into your cells and getting converted to energy. Why does this sometimes happen when you're pregnant?
During pregnancy, your hormones make it tougher for your body to use insulin, so your pancreas needs to produce more of it. For most moms-to be, this isn't a problem: As your need for insulin increases, your pancreas dutifully secretes more of it. But when a woman's pancreas can't keep up with the insulin demand and her blood glucose levels get too high, the result is gestational diabetes.
Most women with gestational diabetes don't remain diabetic once the baby is born. Once you've had it, though, you're at higher risk for getting it again during a future pregnancy and for becoming diabetic later in life.
(I hope this is something I won't have to worry about. I am so scared....)

Some Bad News for Mrs. Moose

I had a blood glucose test yesterday.

The results came back today.

My score was 140, right at the borderline.

I have a 3-hour test Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.

I'm worried (even though I've been told by loved ones not to be).

Please pray everything is okay with me and that Baby Moose is okay. He's really all that matters anyway.

Thursday Rambles

Yesterday was my first "two-week" check-up.
I had a glucose monitoring blood test. Thankfully, the needle didn't even hurt. (I was thankful for that!)
Also, we were scheduled for Baby Mooses's 4-D ultrasound. He was facing my back, so the only pictures we got of him were of his foot and "pee pee". We were forced to re-schedule another session. It kinda disappointed me (see how I'm feeling today in my sidebar). I was so jazzed up about seeing our son's face. I pray he will cooperate next time.
My next appointment is October 27th. I'm really getting down to crunch time now. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!
My mom went over some details of Baby Moose's baby shower with me yesterday. It will take place November 15, tentatively. I have registered around so hopefully I will get some of what we need. It will just be fun to show off my belly to loved ones at the shower. Presents are always nice, though! :)
I plan on giving someone some grief soon about our child-birthing classes. We wanted to take the classes "offered" by the hospital affiliated with my OB. I have sent numerous emails, snail mails and have left at least 1/2 a dozen phone calls regarding our situation. If someone doesn't help me soon, I plan on going somewhere else (besides the hospital) to sign up for these important classes. Gosh, I detest incompetency!
My friend Lynda hasn't updated her blog today. Is it because she's sick or because she's gone into labor? I don't know, but either way, I'm wishing her the best.

Well, I need to run. (or in my case walk quickly) See you guys soon!

Hurry Up 2:00!

Well, today's the day!

We're having our 4-D sonogram at 2:00. My parents insisted on being there and I'm so grateful!

The only thing is, I have a glucose blood test and I am terrified of needles. Oh, well...it's for Baby Moose so it's worth it!

I just know this morning will drag on and on. 2:00 never seemed so far away...

I will post an update later about this amazing experience a bit later.

By the way, Lynda is very sick. They may not induce her labor because of it. She is miserable and I feel so bad for her. Please keep her in your prayers.

Ciao for Now, all!

Weekend "Wrap-Up"

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was feeling a little wiped out.
Now for the "weekend update". JOY!
Saturday morning, Mr. Moose cleaned out more "junk" from the nursery. One can actually visualize what it will look like with Baby Moose's things in there now. AWESOME!
Saturday afternoon, my parents brought up both changing tables. One we put one in the nursery and the other we put in the living room. They're wonderful! My parents did an excellent job and I just know they both will be such a huge help when changing our son.

THANKS SO MUCH MOM & DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Moose and my Dad went to our storage unit to get Baby Moose's crib. They planned on putting it together Saturday afternoon. For the second time in 6 weeks, we were locked out of the gate. Mr. Moose has decided that we will no longer be using the storage unit, now that we can put items in the nursery. Not only have we never missed a rent payment, we've never even been late! Last time, the owner didn't mark us as being paid up and something tells me this was the same problem again. No worries. We'll be leaving by October 16. I'm sure the unit will be rented ASAP. Let someone else deal with the incompentency. (<--quoted from Mr. Moose)
After the storage unit escapde, we settled down and watched a college football game on our wide-screen television. My parents and sister joined us in the fun. Mr. Moose made homemade chili and I made the condiments. It was fun! The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) won the game against Kentucky so you know I was happy! My sister isn't an Alabama fan, but she humored us anyway. We had a great time and despite the irritations we faced, I believe fun was had by all.
Sunday we "goofed off". After lunch, we took naps, I watched my Colts pull off an astounding win and we generally did nothing (which is what Sunday afternoons are best for).
Yesterday, I layed around here and felt kinda "blah blah". I napped on the couch most of the day. Mr. Moose went to work, of course.
My friend Lynda will be finding out if she will have to be induced tomorrow. Her daughter, Lily Jean, won't make her grand entrance. She's already a week late. Lynda is apprehensive about labor induction and I don't blame her. Plus, she's not feeling well and has some personal issues that are making the finish line seem totally out of sight. I've been praying for her throughout her pregnancy. I will continue to pray God's will be done in her life now, as well.
Well, tomorrow is a big day for us. I'm having a blood test to check for pre-natal diabetes (joy). We're also having a 4-D ultrasound done of Baby Moose. I'm really excited. Both my parents will be there, along with Mr. Moose, Baby Moose (of course!) and I. Mr. Moose's mother won't be there, which I'm disappointed about. I guess having a copy of the ultrasound will be enough for her. I really would've liked for her to have been there, though. Oh, well....
I need to run. I have laundry to do and of course some straightening. Hope I didn't bore you too much with my rambling! :)
Again, I want to remind everyone to pray for Lynda. Tomorrow will be a big day for her, Miguel (her husband) and their daughter, Miss Lily Jean.
Ciao for now!

Excuses, excuses.....

I'm a little tired today.
I'll update tomorrow.
PROMISE!

Fun with Mom

Yesterday with my mom was so much fun!

First we went to Lowe's and grabbed some stain swatches to match the cradle we have in the livingroom. My Dad is has built two changing tables for Baby Moose. One for his nursery upstairs and the stain for it matches the crib. The other changing table matches the cradle in the livingroom downstairs. I like having one on each level of our home. This will make changing Baby Moose a cinch! (I hope)

We then went and purchased me a sweater. I tried to get one Wednesday, but was unable to find anything I liked. We ended up getting a sweater that is a grey color and buttons across the chest. I like it sooooo much. YAY!

We then had lunch with my Daddy at their favorite Chinese restaurant. One of the waiters said I looked like Sarah Palin. I guess because I'm Caucasian, have brown hair (pulled up in a hair clip) and squared off eyeglasses. This would've been alright if I was a Republican, but I'm not. Oh, well.....

We then traveled around looking for an armoire for Baby Moose. I just don't want to spend $700 for an armoire. Am I crazy? I mean, sure, he'll use it until he moves away, but $700 right now is just not possible. I guess he'll have to go without one for a bit. (Mom & Dad could and would build him one, but I feel like a real moocher asking them to build ALL his furniture!)

We then picked up my Daddy from work and they took me home. It was a full day and so I'm resting today. Wednesday was hectic while doing chores. Yesterday was hectic "goofing off". Hopefully, today won't be to hectic here around Casa Moose.

Tomorrow, my parents plan on bringing our changing tables up from their house. Maybe this will motivate Mr. Moose to work in the nursery a bit more.....?

I am going to go wash some laundry and straighten up a bit. Wish me luck! :)

Hope you all have a great Friday and blessed weekend!

TGIF!

Study Buddy to the Rescue

For what it's worth, I used the "study buddy" with three pillows last night. They seemed to help me breathe much better. Now, if I could only not give out of breath everytime I eat, or tee tee every 10 minutes, I'll be just peachy! The thing is, Baby Moose's arrival in December (HOPEFULLY!) makes all these "side effects" SO worth it.

Today, I'll be "goofing off" with my mother. I always enjoy being with her. I'll try to update later today about our excursions.

Happy Thursday!

Birthday Wishes

My friend Lynda's husband's birthday is today.

Many well wishes and congratulations to Miguel!

Happy Birthday, Miguel!

Hump Day Ramblings

Last night, I got up to visit Mr. Potty a million times (no joke! I stopped counting at 12). I promised myself I wouldn't drink anything after 8:30, but the juice Mr. Moose brought me was great! (V8 Mango Peach).

I also had a hard time breathing. When I layed flat, I swear I couldn't breathe! I propped up on several pillows and that helped. My mom told me, this morning on the phone, that sleeping basically "sitting up" is a necessity in the last few months. Joy!

I have a ton of errands to run today, before Mr. Moose gets home. I think I'll be able to get them all done. Plus, an added bonus, is the cool weather the South's experiencing now. I LOVE it! No more pouring sweat when I do anything. Yay!

Well, I'm off to see the wizard. The Wonderful Wizard of Errands. Wish me luck (I'm purchasing a maternity jacket/sweater today, too).

Happy "Hump" Day, all!
